Champs Conference: Auction - Underway
HOT NEWS!: Changes/news for upcoming season.
1) We will be expanding this year to 5 conferences plus our Champs league, however, we'll be going back to 12 teams per conference.. Each league will have three 4team divisions. Each team will play each other team once in the regular 14 week season, and those in their division each twice. The prize breakout will be as follows: Division Winner (3 per conference) - $35; Wildcards (1 per) - $15; Runner Up (1 per) - $50; Conference Champ (1 per) - $130. Weekly winner over all from the 5 leagues will still get $10 a week, and the week 17 winner of all non champ teams will receive free entry the following season.
2) Scoring changes: Quarterback points for touchdowns thrown will be changing this year. Instead of the 6-8-10-12 breakout for distance used in previous years, quarterbacks will receive 6-7-8-9 points for the 0-19/20-39/40-59/60+ yard TD pass distance. The issue of adding points for punt/kickoff returns was addressed and the following change made. Players will receive 1 point for every 50 yards punt/kickoff return combined. We looked at Dante Hall 2 years ago as the model and calculated that on the season this would have upped his overall point production as a receiver in our league by about 25 points give or take a couple.
3) Add/drops allowed per week will still be 4 as opposed to 2.
4) Conferences will be East, West, Central, South and the new North Conference, plus the invitation only Champs league.
5) Lineups will now be locked at kickoff of the week’s first game.
6) All checks must now be sent to our new address for TURF. Mail them to either Tim Van Prooyen or Jerry Mendicino @ PO Box 6392, D’Iberville, MS, 39540-6392. Also, there will be a $15.00 charge for any returned (bounced) checks. Hope this will not be a problem, but need to make allowances in case. Also, if you send a check before the “early bird” deadline and it bounces, expect to pay the late fee if you don’t get it taken care of prior to the deadline. NEW this year, we'll be accepting Paypal for bank account/Paypal transfers. Note, we DO NOT accept credit cards yet at this point.
7) Commissioners for all leagues this year will be Tim Van Prooyen, Jerry Mendicino, Troy Actkinson and Greg Penoyer. Any may rule on any issues unless the issue directly involves them.
8) Players MUST be on the NFL's IR list and listed as out or doubtful in order to stay on the TURF IR. IR moves will be made before Add/Drops for the week and will not be tied in to the add/drop as in year's past. This should aleviate a bit of confusion.
9) We will be moving software providers this year. All leagues will be run using Greg Penoyer's personally built software, Maxfl. Address to access the site is www.maxfl.com Those of you who played in the champs league last year are already familiar, but the site works great and plus, the programmer plays in our league, so that is just a bonus!
10) Some teams may be asked to jump leagues due to the drawback, but this should be minimal.
11) New Logo and new merchandise will be launched
and available through our store
this fall...some great stuff out there if you haven't been there in a while!
Entry fee will still be the same, $35 prior to the early bird deadline, $40
after. The early-bird deadline this year is Wednesday, August 3, 2004. Anything
received after that will be considered late and be required to make up the $5.
If you have a comment regarding these rule changes, mail them to turfsports@bellsouth.net
